Digital signage is pushing into a wide variety of spaces, especially one often overlooked space: conference rooms. COVID-19 has made display technology for conference rooms even more critical, as remote workers need a way to be able to interact with meetings without being physically present.

For example, The Beach Company, a real-estate company based in Charleston, South Carolina, recently deployed a variety of displays from LG to help ensure both social distancing and enable virtual collaboration.

Digital Signage Today spoke with Dan Smith, vice president of business development, LG Business Solutions USA, to learn more about this deployment.

Q. How is digital signage expanding into conference/meeting room spaces?

A.Business leaders are drawn to the latest commercial AV technologies to improve communications, support modern collaboration and present a forward-thinking atmosphere to visitors and staff.

The system LG has installed in the newly renovated headquarters of The Beach Company, a real estate development firm based in Charleston, South Carolina, is centered around state-of-the-art technology that not only looks impressive, but also is easy to use and reliable.

Q. How has it helped during COVID-19?

A. As companies prepare for the return to work, flawless virtual collaboration and maintaining social distancing at the office will be critical.

Advanced digital displays, like LG’s 130-inch AIO DVLED and video wall, present much larger digital canvases, proven to enable social distancing within conference rooms. Additionally, the LG system at the Beach Company allows meeting participants to connect simply and quickly, regardless of device brand, creating more fluid and less disruptive meetings.

Q. What are some of the innovative technologies at work in this space?

A.Some of LG’s newest and most exciting display technologies were just installed in the newly renovated headquarters of The Beach Company.

For example, the 130-inch all-in-one DVLED display has a lifespan of 100,000 hours at full brightness, which is equivalent to more than 11 years running 24 hours a day. DVLED is one of the few technologies that can reliably overpower full sunlight throughout the day. The digital display is so bright and vibrant that it’s actually visible to boats passing by on the Ashley River.

Additionally, the LG OLED wallpaper installed in the CEO’s office is less than four millimeters thick, allowing it to essentially become part of the wall. This innovative display makes a statement of professionalism to other CEOs and business leaders.

Q. What do you see as the future for this market?

A. The need for cutting-edge display technology in offices will only grow in the future. One key area of interest among business leaders is increasingly tailored technology designed specifically for their office’s requirements and interests. Office display technology is not a one size fits all project, and collaboration among designers and integrators is crucial to providing the most effective and innovative solutions.

Using the Beach Company project as an example, LG worked closely with the integrator to plan each room’s specific technology needs and it quickly became clear that LG Business Solutions was one of the only display manufacturers that could deliver the entire range of class-leading solutions required.
